ok i am having some pain in my lower abdominal area and it feels a lot similar to the pain i used to have before the doctor recommended a partial hysterectomy in 2010. he said it was due to my 3 c-sections in the past and the amount of scar tissue i had in that area. but i am have sharp intense pains especially when i stand up from sitting i have to slowly extend my upper body because it hurts. what could this be? i dont necessarily live very close to a hospital and i dont have a primary doctor. please help
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
This may indicate diverticulosis and treatment for it depends on how bad your symptoms are. If the pain is mild, you are able to drink liquids and you have no signs of complications, treatment may include: medicines such as antibiotics and pain relievers.
Changes in diet, starting with a clear liquid or bland diet that is low in fiber until the pain goes away, then increasing the amount of fiber. To establish the severity of diagnosis, you should do CT scan or colonoscopy.
If the pain is severe, you are not able to drink liquids, or you have complications of diverticulitis, a hospital stay is needed.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Ivan R. Rommstein
