What Causes Pain In The Lower Abdomen While Urinating?

I am having bladder pain and burning when I pee. Went to the doctor on Friday and she said I might have shingles down there and she gave me a prescription for Valtrex. She is going to look in my bladder on Tuesday. I also have Interstital Cystitis. And they have checked for Urniary tract infection and it was negative. My question is should I start this Valtrex now and should I wait until the doctor checks my bladder.

Hello,

Since the diagnosis of shingles is made, I suggest you take Valtrex as per prescription of your doctor. Interstitial cystitis is a separate disease process that will be treated separately.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shailja Puri , Pathologist and Microbiologist
