What Causes Pain In The Jaw After Treatment Of Ear Infection?

My 8 yr old had an ear infection and was treated with prescription antibiotics but lost hearing in hid rt ear. ENT said it was probably fluid in inner ear. it has been 12 days since hearing loss started, 6 days since his antibiotics ended. Hearing loss in right ear is not getting any better, possibly worse, and now he has significant pain in his jaw on the same side. He had tubes as a toddler and they were removed 3 years ago or so.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It is due to minor inflammation in the ear. Nothing much to worry and it will settle by itself. As of now, you can use analgesics/anti-inflammatory combination like aceclofenac/serratiopeptidase for symptomatic relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
