What Causes Pain In The Feet While Suffering From Diabetes?

I am 76 years old (not that, that matters) and 2 days ago I woke up with a new kind of foot pain. I say new kind because I have diabetes 2 and have pain in my feet from that a lot, but this felt different. The pain was under the skin on the top of my left foot. The right foot had bunion surgery about 5 years ago. But it s the untouched left foot. I see a little discoloration like a faint bruise so what I am thinking it might be a broken blood vein. The pain is not constant it is a pulsating sting. I take Advil

The most possible issue with blood supply compromise via microangiopathy or neurologic issues with peripheral neuropathy of diabetes.

Detailed examination with a consultant neurologist is must to proceed further.
