Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Pain In The Buttocks After Lumbar Stenosis Surgery?
I had lumbar stenosis surgery the 7th of June due to inter left leg pain and left buttocks pain so now I have pain on the outer L leg and left buttocks. Therapist thought it was bursitis and when returning to the surgeon he recommended injection of the bursa of the hip. Are we on the right track?
As post-surgery, this is common to have pain in the hip region. As post-surgery, there will be an inflammatory process which takes some days to subside and also there is a weakness of the muscles.
Continue the prescription and treatment line chosen by the physician and your bursa pain will come down.
Doing simple exercises for the hip muscle strengthening should help the stability to come in the joint avoid any excessive strain applied over the bursa and leading inflammation.
Exercise plays an important role in the post-surgical duration.
You should do well once sufficient strength is achieved in the hip muscles.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
