Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Pain In The Arm & Chest With History Of Lymphoedema?
Hi, I had a LB mastectomy with immediate LD reconstruction and Lymph node clearance, 6 years ago. Since then I have had constant pain under my arm and my left chest and in my back. I have asked the surgeon about this pain and have been told that I must be using my arm and upsetting things. I thought this pain would eventually settle down but quite the contrary has been the case. Even analgesics don t take this pain away. What do you think this pain could be? I also have lymphoedema in my left arm which I wear a compression sleeve to control.

Physical Therapist or Physiotherapist, Ajithkumar PA's Response
Thanks for your query. After healing the wound the scar should be mobilized. This can be achieved by stretching. You should go to a physiotherapist for further rehabilitation. The pain is due to the scar tissue and undrained lymph fluid.
