Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Pain In The Ankle Radiating Up The Leg?
I have pain in my ankle it is painful to the touch, the pain radiates up my leg just below my knee needless to say I walk around with a limp I would really like to have an idea of what is going on with I know I probably need X-rays and such I used to play basketball and turned my ankles a lot please any info on this will be greatly appreciated
As you mentioned you play basketball so pain you have is likely because of injury to the ankle joint, muscles or ligaments around it or maybe compression of a nerve around that area which is resulting in radiating pain.
I would like to suggest you see an orthopedician soon and get an X-ray of the involved joint done as per his advice. If needed he might ask you to do some more tests. So for such excruciating pain its best to pay a visit to the doctor and get it examined. You will be adviced to take some pain relief medicines. As well as proper rest for a couple of weeks or more depending on the severity is a must.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Manisha Auradkar,
