What Causes Pain In The Abdomen On The Lower Side?

I ve had constant low grade abdominal pain on my lower right side, halfway between rib and pelvic bone. Sharp pains around center of abdomen all for the past two or three months. As of the past two weeks, I am seeing floating yellow stools and almost complete loss of appetite. I m pretty worried. Wondering what the chances are that it isn t anything deadly serious like diverticulitis, IBS or something no cancerous.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Pain in the center and lower right of the abdomen is commonly due to gastroenteritis, appendicitis, uremia, kidney infection or stone, enlarged liver or hepatitis.

Other factors can be to IBS, PID, Appendicitis, ovarian cysts, endometriosis, colon cancer.

You are suggested to visit ER, get physically examined by a GP. Get Blood & Imaging tests done, get treated at the earliest.

Your treatment will depend upon the severity of the pathology detected. In the meantime avoid addictions if any, maintain a healthy weight as per BMI, stay away from greasy junk food.

Take homemade food (preferably boiled), take food that is easily digestible, avoid meat at present. Take berries, veggies, fruits, whole grain.

For relieving you can take Spasmol (spasmoproxyvon), one sos when pain, antacids & PPI's one sos when needed. Take medications after consultation with your local doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
