General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, i do care for your concern.
The disc prolapse cause compression of nerve roots, and hence cause this type of pain.
taking pain killer is of little value, as the problem has to be cured.
Having physiotherapy would also help a bit.
however it is highly advisable to get surgery done to have a permanant relief from pain.
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
I find this answer helpful
