What Causes Pain In Shoulder After Lifting Heavy Weights In Gym?
Dear Doctor,
I am a regular at the gym and play cricket every Sunday. At the gym, my workout involves heavy lifting but no arm rotation though my warm up includes rotation exercises. I am a bowler and use my right arm to bowl pace. Around three weeks back while bowling, I suffered pain in my right shoulder though there are no external injury marks and I did not suffer a fall. Since then I have continued working out but no heavy lifting as that brings excruciating pain. Even my cricket regime remains unchanged and I am able to bowl just like I would normally. Since I could bowl and saw no swelling I kept ignoring the injury thinking it would get better with time but it has been three weeks now and it doesn't seem to get better. My gym trainer suggested I take Lyser D but given his non-med background I did not pay heed to his suggestion. The pain refuses to ease. Please advice.

As you are bowler and doing gym, it is good to strength your muscle. As you feel pain while lifting heavy weights in gym.This is due to over stretching of shoulder joint during bowling. This leads to bursitis or ligaments and tissue damage in shoulder joint. I advice to take rest in bowling for few weeks. Also not to lift heavy weight in gym. Also do not rub over joint. Use hot water over shoulder joint for relief. Take Tab. Dan P for pain . I also advice to take sufficient nutrition daily. Take fruit and healthy food. This all leads to relief in your symptom . I f it persist than consult a good orthopedic surgeon for this.
