What Causes Pain In Right Hip And Upper Thigh?

I have pain in my right hip and upper thigh... my X-ray doesn t show anything wrong with my hips. Orthopedic feels it is coming from my back... facet joints deteriorated? Received a cortisone shot in upper thigh... hurts to walk for any length of time. Was told to exercise my core more... to stabilize the back region... wondering if an MRI would maybe explain more or if there isn t anything I can do anyway. I am a female, 67 years of age... very active, normally, and trying to figure this out. PT helped somewhat, chiropractor helped a little... but still uncomfortable sleeping on this hip or turning over in bed... sounds muscular or tendons to me? What do you think?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As a first line management, you can take analgesics like Paracetamol or Aceclofenac for pain relief. If symptoms persist better to consult an orthopaedic and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
