What Causes Pain In Neck And Lower Back Along With Tingling Sensation In Arms?

I have been having pain in my neck and lower back for approximately 2-3 weeks. My neck is stiff and i feel numbness/tingling in my arms. I have had problems with sciatica in the past so I believe that is what I am feeling in my legs into my feet. Could the neck pain/stiffness cause the tingling in my arms? could all of this be due to stress?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
The reason for the neck pain and tingling may be the nerves being stimulated in the neck as it is seen in sciatica. Just get an xray to rule out any outgrowth in the bone in the neck. Also if the pain is just a few weeks, using hot fomentation with a local analgesic may help.
