Hi,

You are right. Stress and anxiety can cause headaches, palpitations or rapid heart beats and skipped heart beats, nausea, shortness of breath, frequent bowel movements and some other symptoms. In your case, pain can be due to involuntary muscular spasms or trigeminal neuralgia caused by irritation of Trigeminal nerve. However, if you have trigeminal neuralgia the pain can be severe and can occur even due to mild stimulation of your face such as putting on makeup, brushing your teeth etc.

Your treatment is learning to deal with stress and anxiety. When you are stressed out you can take in a deep breath and count to 3. Then slowly breathe out and do reverse counting from 3 to 1. Also, you taking a warm bath and deep muscular relaxation techniques can ease your symptoms. You can research on DMR techniques for anxiety. Also, it is necessary to see your family doctor with your complaints. Then he or she will evaluate your condition and may prescribe you Tricyclic antidepressant like Amitriptyline only if needed.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
