What Causes Pain In Hamstring After Physical Activity?

After taking my morning run my hamstring started hurting. I just started stretching more and took a couple of days off. Started running again and felt a pain In the back of right leg and then my leg went numb. I stopped running, but now I can t run at all without my leg going numb.

Hi,

Pain in Hamstring muscle after physical activity is due to dehydration and some electrolyte imbalance. This Is cramp like pain. You need to drink plenty of water before start of your morning walk. You can take coconut water also which is good source of potassium.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pramod Kokare, General & Family Physician
