What Causes Pain In Collar Bone And Shoulder Post Trauma?
I was involved in a rear in collision on monday. I started having pain across my collarbone in to my shoulder. I was seen at the ER where xrays were done and nothing was found. I can t lift my arm above my head because of the pain, mostly in my shoulder now and there is a constant burning sensation and a dull achy pain. I have been taking anti inflammatory meds given to me at the ER.I have a lot of swelling and my shoulder set lower then my other shoulder and is very tender to the touch. I don t know if I should be seen by another doctor or if I am just sore from the accident. What could the injury be and is it ok to wait a few more days to see if it improves or should I make a doctor s appointment?
Yes, it is quite possible that these all may be because of the trauma and may not be serious, but still, if there are severe pain and tenderness in spite of the pain killer then it always worth another opinion. Some times the x-ray may miss minor fractures.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman, General & Family Physician
