What Causes Pain In Armpit Radiating To The Breast?

Hello, I have been having a dull throbbing in my right armpit all day today and sometimes it goes around to the right side of the breast. I am a 50 yr. old female , 240 lbs. 5 8 diabetic. I am really healthy other than high cholesteral according to blood work. Would this pain be due to diabetes or just old age? I have not had pain like this before and its irritating.

pain in your armpit and breast can be due to many factors. the most common cause for the symptom you describe is due to not having proper support for your breasts with a proper fitting bra. if the pain persists , this is something you will need to fix by getting a proper fitting bra with good support.

if this is not the cause, trauma such as stretching or lifting too hard or some other trauma can cause it as well, this will usually resolve on its own and can be treated with anti inflammatories such as ibuprofen until it gets better.

infections, cysts, tumors and other things can be involved as well, so if the pain persists it is very important to be see by your doctor. mammograms, ultrasounds, and occasionally even a biopsy and/or and MRI sometimes may need to be done to find a proper diagnosis.
