General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You have history of having diagnosed with hiatal hernia. Hiatal hernia may cause GERD like symptoms and may trigger chest pain radiating to the arm. You are suggested to stop smoking or addictions if any. Take small portions of food that are easily digested. You can take it multiple times a day. Do not go to bed immediately after lunch or dinner. Do regular walking, maintain healthy weight. Get treated for hiatus hernia at the earliest. Your treating doctor will give you PPIs, antacids, H-2-receptor blockers, etc.

If your system does not respond to the treatment given he may recommend surgery. You can have a routine cardiac examination and investigations done to rule out any developing CAD. You will be treated accordingly. Take food with caution, limit oily spicy food. Take steamed food, low fat yogurt, limit oil, butter, sauce, etc. Take bananas, apples, lean meat, small fish, chicken, rice, pasta, whole grains, crackers, etc. Stay well hydrated and take adequate sleep.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
