Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have pain in an around my left ear, with pain on the same side of my head as well as problems swallowing at different times. This has been going on for the last 3 days. I went to urgent care today and they found nothing. However, I am still in pain. I have major gut problems and don t need to be taking pain killers as they present problems as well. Any ideas?
Pain in and around the ear can be due to ear infection causing pain and pain on the same side of the head can be radiating pain from the ear.
So my suggestion is to consult an Otorhinolaryngologist and get evaluated and a clinical examination and investigations like otoscopy can be done to rule out the exact cause of pain.
In case of infection, you can be advised a course of antibiotics like Augmentin, anti-inflammatory painkillers or other painkillers after assessing your gut problem and along with it antibiotics and analgesic ear drops can be advised.
Along with it to protect your gut you can be advised Pantoprazole along with antibiotics and painkillers.
For now, you can put otogenic ear drops.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Honey Arora,
Dentist
