What Causes Pain During Intercourse In A Woman With Septate Hymen?

Lost my virginity in November, and I had a septate hymen. Upon breaking of the band of skin there was little to no blood and it only hurt a little bit. Me and my partner after that had occasional sex and it was all fine, no pain and was only uncomfortable during penetration, until a couple of weeks ago. We tried to have sex because we hadn t for a few days, and as soon as he attempted to stick it in a sharp unbearable pain occurred from the opening of my vagina. We eventually were able to get it in and entercourse did not hurt, yet every time it comes to penetration it s nothing but sharp pain. We continue to have sex even though it s extremely painful with the penetration . It came to the point were it even hurts inserting a tampon and neither him not I can even insert fingers without me clinching in pain, and it s also occurring on the inside now. Could this be because of my hymen, there is excess skin still remaining but I m not sure what else it could be. I ve even tried more lubricant and taking a week and a half break.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Welcome to Healthcare Magic Forum.
I have gone through your Query & I really appreciate your concern about the problem you are facing.

As a physician I would lie to tell you that the phenomenon of Vaginismus is quite common in newly wed women or women who lost their virginity recently. SO, I would suggest that you should be relaxed during sexual activities, do a foreplay, use lubrication if necessary and everything will be back to normal and pleasurable in no time.

Also, I would suggest that you visit a Obgy doctor if this pain continues to be felt for more that a-2 months as there could be a infection or any other pathology giving rise to this pain and this have to be checked manually and internally to pin point the cause.

Thanks for Trusting & Posting your Query on this forum.
Hope this will help you. Feel free to ask any further question.
Have a nice Day.

Regards,
Dr.Abhijeet
