What Causes Pain At The Site Of Hernia Post Hernia Surgery?

My husband had hernia surgery a few years ago. It seems hes having some pulling and drawing in the area of where the hernia was to start with, around his belly button. It hurts to pull up from a sitting position, if he strains any from a bowel movement or presses his stomach. Could it be an annurism ?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Aneurysms are generally deep and he would feel a pulsating motion at the abdomen. They may cause pain but this happens when the aneurysm is bursting and is an emergency. The pain from aneurysm is not related to movements but is continuous and gets worse within a short time and the patient is unwell.
It does not seem very likely for your husband to have that pain from aneurysm but he will still need to have a visit with the doctor and possibly and abdominal ultrasound to rule out recurrence of the hernia.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
