What Causes Pain And Tenderness In The Lower Back On The Left Side?

About 3 weeks ago i seem to have developed a pretty consistent pain on my lower left side and it wraps partially around my lower back. very tender if you push fingers in certain spots. Saw the physicians assistant on Friday thinks it may be some kind of kidney infection. Prescribed Bactrim. Been taking since friday night. She indicated that my white count was elevated, my keytones? and a couple of other things. I have none of the other kidney infection symptoms.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Go for USG abdomen. Seems kidney stone or swelling (hydronephrosis) or lump. Give urine for routine examination and culture, antibiotics need to be started accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. AJEET SINGH, General & Family Physician
