What Causes Pain And Swelling In The Tragus Of The Left Ear?

I have pain and swelling in the tragus of my left ear. It started this morning and got worse thru the day. No pain in the east canal. But when I clamp my jaw together, the pain worsens. Also the area on the side of my face, . Just in front of the tragus, seems to be swelling a little also. Can you tell me what this is, will it resolve itself, or do I need to see my Dr? Thanks, Madeleine

Hello & welcome to HealthcareMagic forum.
I have read your query.
In my opinion , it may be because of
1) TM joint inflammation .
2) Parotid gland inflammation .
3) Otitis externa.
I will suggest you to please consult your ENT doctor because here clinical examination is very important to diagnose the real fact and accordingly treatment may be planed.
