What Causes Pain And Swelling In The Right Knee?

Hi Dr, 3 days ago I woke with right knee pain. No stabbing pain, just a sore feeling. It hurts to walk up and down stairs. There is no brushing or swelling. There was no impact injury to the knee. Background - past month waking with numbness sensations on right knee cap. Also I just recalled over past few years getting very stiff knees when sitting in movie cinemas. I am 40 years old female. Thank you Jules

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As a first line management, you can take analgesics like Paracetamol or Aceclofenac for pain relief.

If symptoms persist you can consult an orthopedician and get evaluated. An MRI scan is required to rule out ligament or tendon involvement.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
General & Family Physician
