What Causes Pain And Numbness In The Palm After An Injury?

My palm was punctured by a staple gun. I pulled the staple out, the bleeding stopped quite quickly, but I think I damaged a nerve. This happened two days ago, but not until yesterday did I start to feel stinging and numbness in my ring finger. When I press on the area where the staple entered, I feel tingling running from my palm up and to the tip of my ring finger. The tingling/stinging has not gone away and it made worse by stretching my hand completely out. Will this heal on it s own over time or might surgery be needed?

Hello,

It could be a median nerve injury which is causing all these tingling sensations. If there is partial nerve damage, then it will subside in weeks. Or if it fully damaged, then it will progress. So depending on the symptom if it subsides then you don't have to worry and take Neurobione forte tablets for nerve healing. If it's progressing to palsy, then you need to see a doctor and get it repaired if anything is still pressing on the nerve to cause damage.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Archana
