Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I have a strange lameness in my left arm from my elbow down to my hand it is not there all of the time but when i attempt to lift an object I get a strange faint pain and lameness. I have no recollection of straining or injuring my arm? I am 58 and in good health with no prior circulatory issues! Regards Gregor
I understand your concern regarding the pain, and thanks for referring to us.first of let me assure you that the pain in you forearm down the elbow is a most common condition. It can be due to some strain in the ligaments around elbow. In such conditions:
1) the best method to relieve from pain is to give rest to the affected limb. it takes time for recovery.
2) do not strain your forearm by performing strenuous exercises, playing badminton, tennis, throwball.
3) do not lift heavy weight, if it is unavoidable then wear elbow support and do your work
4) if the pain increases sharply and is tormenting you every now and then then you need further treatment after complete investigations.
For now you can use mild analgesics like Paracetamol which you can get prescribed by your local doctor. You shall be alright do not worry.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Suhas Chauhan
