What Causes Pain And Discomfort In The Chest?

My sister had CPR performed on July 10th after suffering a heart attack. Today, July 23rd, she still has some pain or discomfort in her chest. The doctors in the Hospital said it was from the CPR. How long does this pain/discomfort from CPR usually last?

General Surgeon 's  Response
During CPR, the doctor will compress the lower part of sternum with patient on a firm cot, to co-inside with the cardiac beats and the artificial respiration being administered by another doctor. During this activity, it is possible that the ribs or the attachment of the ribs to the sternum sustain injuries, even fractures. However, in a period of time the fractures will unite and pain will resolve this may take three to six weeks. Please be thankful that after CPR, your sister is now alive and soon will be back to normal activity.
