What Causes Pain And Congestion In The Ears?

Last while using a headphone , watching TV, I fell sleep. I woke up at 3 am, and was up for about 15 minutes before heading for the bed. At that time, I did not feel any discomfort or pain. This morning I woke up with a very slight pain and feeling similar to my right ear being plugged. But then I immediately noticed that when I hear a sound, (people talking, or TV/radio, I hear a high pitch sound as well... it seems that I hear the high pitch only when the sound is loud or the sound itself is high pitched. In other words, I do not hear the high pitched sound (whistle like) all the time, Only some times. for example when I hear a sentence, I hear the high pitch sound only for certain words, not throughout the whole sentence. Also when no one is talking, I do not hear the high pitch/whistle like sound. I do not have a sever pain, just feeling uncomfortable (feels like ear is slightly and not fully plugged) and feel very small pain. My questions are (1) Is this due to the fact that I might have been exposed to loud music while sleeping with the headphones on and (2) Is it going o heal itself? Thank you
