What Causes Pain And Bloating In The Lower Abdomen?

I have an illiostomy bag because of colorectal cancer. I had some colon and intestines removed but am still attached to my rectum. With my bag nothing should get below my stoma I was told, but lately I have gas pains and loud noises coming from my lower abdominal area. It sometimes feels like gas is trying to get out but with scar tissue nothing comes out of my rectum. It s not a blockage because I have plenty of output through my stoma. Any ideas?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Would suggest an ultrasonography of the abdomen and pelvis, that will help you to narrow down the diagnosis.

Moreover, I would suggest a consultation from a clinical psychologist as your symptoms point towards some amount of anxiety and depression.

A behaviour therapy and sleep-inducing drugs for a short period will help you. Ultrasonography is necessary.

Please revert back to me with the details I have asked.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
