What Causes Outbreak Of Rashes All Over The Body Of A Toddler?

My 2 year old has had an ear infection and allergies. For the last 4 days she has been spontaneously breaking out with rashes all over her little body that vanish after about 30 minutes. Now, she can t sleep. She keeps coughing every time she falls back to sleep. Her cough sounds croupy and smells like onions. The smell is only when she coughs. She has not ate onions or anything spiced with them. Should I be worried?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The rash of the child is probably related to a viral rash. You can use Calamine lotion for local application to relieve the rash.

I also suggest using a mucolytic to help with the cough and give your child a lot of liquids.

If the symptoms continue, I suggest seeing your pediatrician for a physical examination.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
