What Causes On And Off Chest Pain Followed By Fainting Spells?
Hi, for the past 6 months I have been experiencing chest pains, not all of the time, but about 3 times a day, 4 days a week. They are progressively getting worse, and last week I fainted, which is very unusual for me, I wasn t out for long, but had terrible yawning fits just before it happened. I then felt the same yawning/fainting thing at the weekend, but managed to sit down and stop the faint before it happened again.

Your symptoms may be caused by different disorders :
1. A cardiac disorder like arrhythmia can cause similar symptoms
2. Aorta dissection may mimic this clinical scenario
3.Low blood pressure or orthostatic hypotension
4. A neurological condition like epilepsy
5. Anxiety
I recommend you to perform some tests to establish the diagnosis : a routine blood test, kidney and renal function tests, chest xray, ECG, cardiac ultrasound, Head Up tilt test for orthostatic hypotension, ambulatory 24 hours ECG monitoring.
A neurological consultation may be needed.
If all the above mentioned tests result normal, the most probable diagnosis would be anxiety.
