Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My daughter, age 17, experienced numbness on the left side of her soft pallet of her mouth. She was eating, and said it lasted about 2 mins then faded. Should I be worried? There is a cold going through our house, but she is asymptomatic now. Perfectly healthy all of her life. I have been Dx with Lyme.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain numbness of soft palate that lasted only for 2 minutes and did not occur again is difficult to be diagnosed without any clinical examination and evaluation of other signs and symptoms.. It can however be due to causes like burning of the palate with some hot food, throat infection, while anxiety and viral infection can also be a cause..
As she is asymptomatic now it is fine but in case if the symptoms recur consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like x ray, throat swab culture etc can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
As of now she does not require any specific treatment and you should wait and wait..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
