Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
55 year old female. Thr/tkr June 2011. Recently fell flight of 7 wooden stairs. Landed on hip then slid down bruising back (on the spine). Saw ortho who x-rayed and found no damage to replacement hip. I also explained I had developed numbness from the knee down the shin and ankle. Doc attributed that to the fall (possible nerve). The same day I was getting on my bike. I started to pedal with the right leg and promptly fell over. I had no sensation in the leg at all. What would cause that level of feeling loss when I have not experienced this during routine living?

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Saurabh Gupta's Response
Hello, Thanks for your query.
Numbness and no sensation in leg could be due to nerve compression at back. ,I would suggest getting this evaluated by an orthopedician for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate management. You may get the MRI of the area affected under his/her guidance. Meanwhile following measures will help with the pain • Lie on a hard bed. • Anti -inflammatory drugs like Tablet Motrin 1 tablet as and when required • Avoid forward bending. • Avoid strenuous activity & lifting heavy weights. • Apply diclofenac gel on the affected area. Warm compresses will also help.
I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query. Take care
