Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I have cronic back pain with herniated disks L4 L5 S1 and I have recently aggrivated it by riding a 4 wheeler 2 weeks ago, but now I am back to normal except now I have I have numbness in my skin in surrounding area where the injury had occured. The skin is numb and hurts like i have a rash or like I have been burned but their is no redness at all. Please Help Thanks Dave
The symptoms seem to be disc related. You need to take bed-rest with pain killers and muscle relaxant. A need for MRI spine may be there if the clinical examination shows any neuro deficit, sensory loss or reflex loss.
Pain modulator drugs like Pregabalin or Amitryptiline or Gabapentin may also be taken. Avoid stooping forward, weight lifting, squatting.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
