What Causes Numbness And Pain The Thigh Along With Hip Pain?

I have a compressed nerve in my left lumbar region causing pain in my hip region and numbness in my thigh. The only relief I get is when I bend forward. If I arch my back the pain is worse. I have very little pain when sitting. My primary care physician put me on a prednisone course of therapy. If this does not work, what are my other treatment options? Thanks

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be a neuropathic pain like sciatica or disc prolapse.

As a first line management, you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief.

If symptoms persist better to consult a neurologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
General & Family Physician
