What Causes Numbness And Droopiness On The Right Side Of The Face?

I have a member in my family that is experiencing a droopy face on the right side, numbness in the face and it keeps moving downward on the body, she feels really tight around the neck and shoulder area, she has slurred speech and she has episodes that are kinda like spasms but they arent. she only gets it when she is emotional or stressed. What do you think is wrong? It keeps getting worse every day and we don't know what the issue is. Thank you for your help.

Hi Dear ,

As per your query you have numbness and droopiness on the right side of the face which seems there are two things that are responsible that is :-

- First the facial numbness is probably due to bell's palsy . Bell's palsy is a condition that causes temporary weakness or paralysis of the muscles in one side of the face.

- Secondly could be due to diabetic neuropathy.

I would suggest you to do mouth stretching exercises and take neurotrophic medications. You should consult neurologist for proper diagnosis and rule out condition like diabetic neuropathy and trigeminal neuroptahy . Doctor may conduct various test to confirm the diagnosis . Doctor may prescribe myscle relaxant or anti inflammatory . Doctor may also recommend physical therapy , massage or light muscle exercise .

Thanks for the query..

Droopy face on right side, numbness of face moving downwards with slurred speech can be due to causes like facial nerve palsy or Bell's Palsy while it can also be due to transient ischemic attack..

Soy suggestion is to consult an Emergency room and get evaluated..

You should get an MRI SCAN done to rule out the exact diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..

It can be a medical emergency so please make sure to see the doctor soon..
