What Causes Night Sweats Along With A Recurring Rash On The Back?

I have terrible night sweats from being in menopause, I soak my sheets every night and lay in damp sheets. I have developed a rash covering by back from laying in damp sheets all night. I already take hormones for the hot flashes which help during the day but not during the night. It wakes me up every 30-60 minutes around the clock while trying to sleep. I ve been dealing with this for 4 years now. The rash is fairly new with in the past year, it heals but comes back. What can I do to protect my skin? its almost like a diaper rash on a baby from a wet diaper.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think you should check your thyroid hormone levels because hyperthyroidism may be a cause of hot flashes and night sweating. You should test T3, T4 and TSH levels. Also, you can do an ultrasound.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Olgeta Xhufka , General & Family Physician
