Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My healthy 17 year old daughter has been waking up every morning feeling nauseous. Several times to the point of having dry heaves and 1 time she vomited a yellow bile. Most severe in the morning as she is getting ready for school. She has lost 10 lbs. She is not pregnant. The nausea can continue for an hour or completely go away and come back in the afteroon but never as severe as the morning is.
Hello The nausea and vomiting in the age group may be due to these possibilities , these include: 1 The first possibility is of peptic ulcer disease or hiatus hernia . Diagnosis can be confirmed by upper G I endoscopy. Try raising the head of your daughter bed about 4 inches with blocks . It also might help to avoid eating or drinking for 2-3 hours before she lie down. To control stomach acid one should not drink alcohol or drinks with caffeine in them or eat chocolates or spicy or greasy foods. Also give her some antacid but if symptoms are severe like vomiting or sever nausea she may need drugs like proton pump inhibitors like pantaprazole- D , once or twice in day. 2 Over eating like pizza ,burger fast food may be the another reason of such symptoms . 3 Tension or anxiety are another reason of such symptoms . In my opinion a school goers become alright with these measures. Good luck.
