My father has stage 4 lung cancer and stage 4 pancreatic cancer. He has stopped all treatment about a month ago and now only controlling symptoms. He has in the last couple weeks lost his appetite and thus weight (down now to 150 from a normal 180lbs). Yesterday and today he has been very nausaus and vomiting. This afternoon the vomit was black. Hospice is trying to help with the symptoms. Is this the beginning of the end?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The enlarged tumor might compress the stomach and leads to a condition called gastric outlet obstruction(GOO) which can cause similar symptoms,

A CECT scan and endoscopy are required to confirm the diagnosis. Consult a gastroenterologist and he will direct you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
