My mother was switched from warfarin to Eliquis. Developed symptoms of muscle weakness, fatigue and then confusion of my dad and brother , who have passed away, that they are present. Since getting off eliquis she s improved except for the confusion of my dad and brother. She realizes they re dead but says it s hard to explain. Says my dad has a girlfriend. Warfarin has exactly ONE effect that eliquuis does not--blood THINNING. by changing the actual clotting proteins, warfarin make blood thinner and flow better. Ive had several patients who did not have a reason to have stroke and near stroke EXCEPT the vessels were irregular going into or within the brain. Being on warfarin (AT A LOW DOSE) changed that and did not have to be even at full anticoagulation levels.
