What Causes Muffled Sound In Ears?

Hi there, When I stand up from sitting or laying down, sometimes my hearing sounds muffled in my ears and last 10-20 seconds then it returns to normal. Other times I will hear a ringing and that last about 10 seconds or so. I m not sure if this means something more serious but I am hoping if you can shed some insight for me. I am 29 yr old female in relatively good health. Thank you, Xinia E.

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hello xinia
Are you having only tinnitus and muffled sound or you have vertigo also.
What about loud sounds. Do you feel comfortable?
If no vertigo, we can think of serous otitis media. I.e fluid in middle ear. other wise inner ear otoconia displacement can be thought
In my opinion, go for pure tone audiometry, tell us result.
till then steam inhalation should be started
