What Causes Mucus With Blood While Urinating During Pregnancy?

i am 31 yrs age, secong pregnancy, 37 weeks and 5 days today. found mucous along with blood when urinating. happend twice in 4 hrs. went to hospital checked heart beat everything ok. midwife said no need to go to hospital unless it is real contraction started. please advice...thanks

Just before the labour pains start, the mouth of the uterus (cervix) starts opening and becoming short. Throughout the pregnancy, this cervix is filled by a mucous plug. When the cervix starts opening, this mucous plug gets dislodged and is thrown out of the cervix. Mucous plug comes out with some amount of blood. This is known as show.

Since you have observed the show, it seems that shortly you will start labour pains.

Now your pregnancy is 37 weeks and 5 days old - almost 38 weeks. So your baby is fully mature. The foetus attains full maturity at 37 weeks. So you deliver any time it is safe for the baby.

Being the second pregnancy, the time lag between the show and delivery pains will be less. Also after the labour pains start, you will deliver much earlier than the first labour. So be ready and prepared to reach the hospital after the labour pains start. Do not wait at home to have strong pains lest the risk of delivering before you reach the hospital.
