What Causes Migraine While On Amoxicillin For Severe Cold?

I had a very bad cold a month ago. I felt like I had the flu. I developed dizziness which made me nauseous. I started amoxycillin clav for 10 days and began to feel better. 3 days ago out of the blue I developed what appeared to be a migraine. I had a very bad headache and was nauseous. The next morning I felt better. Today again I was fine and then all of a sudden I felt dizzy and nauseous, but no headache. I also felt fatigued and had to lay down. I cancelled plans to go out because I did not feel well. I never get sick. I started myself back on amoxycillin/clav. I often have sinus problems especially when the seasons change. The weather in Brooklyn keeps fluctuating and I was wondering if my body is having a hard time adjusting. The dizziness and nausea is not usually a symptom of mine. Could this be a sinus infection, inner ear infection, vertigo? Should I see a doctor? Could I possible need a different antibiotic, perhaps like levaquin? I have used that in the past. Thank youp

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As a first line management you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief.

If symptoms persist, better to consult a neurologist and plan for an MRI brain to rule out possible intra cranial (inside the brain) causes.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
