What Causes Lumpy Throat And Chronic Cough With Clear Sputum?
Hi, for the past 3 weeks I ve had a more pronounced feeling of a lump in the back of my throat and a chronic cough especially in the mornings that (eventually) produces clear sputum and then resolves. Have I got gastric reflux? Is this something I should see my physician about or treat with OTC Ranitidine?
Hello I have gone through your question and understand your concern. The symptoms do appear to be caused from gastric acid reflux as the symptoms of reflux are usually worse early in the morning. OTC will not help to a great extent. Consult a doctor as chronic reflux need to be diagnosed and treated or it will cause various complications like erosion of mucosa or ulceration. The diagnosis includes endoscopy of upper gastrointestinal tract and treatment is usually medication to relieve symptoms of reflux along with creating a mucosal barrier thereby preventing further damage. Thank you.
