What Causes Lump With Dark Brown Center On The Forearm?
My friend has a large golf ball size boil on his inner forearm. The center edges are pus yellow. But the dead center is dark dark brown. Approximately the size of a pea. His question is aside from going to the doctor. What can he do to treat it? I have a picture of it.
Hello and welcome to HCM, A lump of the size of a golf ball and pus in the center is an abscess and it is an infectious lesion. Bacterial infection is the most important cause of abscess formation. Central dark brown area is probably central necrotic area and is composed of dead and degenerating tissue. Incision and drainage of the pus is required along with antibiotic cover. You cannot manage the condition yourself so it is advisable to consult your primary healthcare provider for clinical assessment and thus management.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
