Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, my 7 yr old daughter has a flesh like bump on the soft inside skin behind the lip. It is not paining, but I noticed that it looks like it is getting bigger over the past few days. I initially thought she bit that particular area, but now I am a bit worried what it might be. Please can you advise me accordingly. Thank you u for your time.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain lump on the inner lip of the child can be due to traumatic injury to the inside of lip leading to rupture of the duct of minor salivary gland and accumulation of mucous into soft tissues and formation of a Hematoma.. Another cause can be soft tissues overgrowth leading to formation of a Fibroma.. I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician or a Pedodontist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation can help in diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly.. In case of Mucocele concentrated salt water rinses can help in shrinkage.. If it still doesn't resolve surgical removal is needed.. In case of Fibroma surgical excision is the only option..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
