Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a lump on the edge of my left shoulder blade roughly the size of a small gumball. It almost feels like something has been lodged between the skin and the bone of my shoulder. I first thought it was a pimple but it has formed a very hard shape deep in my back. Can you tell me what this could potentially be? ~Hailie

General & Family Physician, Dr. Lavanya C's Response
Hi Hailie, This lump you mentioned could probably be a sebaceous cyst, commonly occurring on the back. Such a cyst is hard to pinch upon as it is in the layers of skin and usually presents a black punctum. If you observe the said features on your lump, then it is totally harmless unless increases in size or is painful. You can opt a surgery for cosmetic purposes. I hope this was helpful.
