What Causes Lump On Right Side Of Occipital Lobe?

I have a quarter size lump on my right occipital it is hard like bone and very tender, no injury, and I have pain around my eybrow area. I went to the Dr a few days ago and I was running a fever he said he thinks its muscles and that the fever is not associated. Taking Tylenol and ibuprofen does not help the doctor told me to take muscle relaxers and put heat and cold on it none of this has helped. Any suggestions?

Hello,

You have lump on the right side of your occipital lobe. It is hard like a bone and tender. You also have pain around your eyebrow area. You have not mentioned your past medical history. You have had no injury but recently had fever. Bump on the back of the head may be indicative of bone spurs, skull tumors, cysts (pilar), fatty growths (lipoma), inflamed hair follicles (folliculitis), temporal bone tumors, fibroma, osteoma, etc.

Bumps on this part of the body can be hard or soft, and they can vary in size. You are suggested to get clinically examined by an Orthopedics, get blood workouts and investigation, imaging tests (X-ray, CT, MRI, Biopsy, etc.) You will be accordingly treated. Pilar cysts are harmless and asymptomatic only sometimes painful.

If a cyst is not causing symptoms, treatment is not necessary. Bone spurs do not usually require major treatment. If they are causing a person pain or other problems, a doctor may recommend pain relievers & physical therapy or surgery. Get your pathology assessed & treated at the earliest.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
