What Causes Lower Left-sided Pain While Coughing?

I had a tumor on my right overy which was quite large. I was offered a full hysterectomy when they removed the tumour. 8 weeks after surgery (after feeling brilliant) I developed a cough. After 2 weeks of suffering this cough, I tried to get a doctors appointment. Eventually, today, 4 weeks after starting with the cough, I got my appointment and was told I was suffering from Post op and laryngitis/cough. I have a pain in my lower left side which, depending on how hard I cough, is a minor to major pain. I am 58, have been through the menopause many years ago, and am a smoker. I have a physically demanding job. I just want to get back to normal

Hello,

You may be suffering from irritant cough with abdominal muscle spasm. Other possibilities like left renal or ureteric calculi or colitis etcetera. Smoking may aggravate the cough and also check for the possibility of COPD if you're a chronic smoker. Avoid smoking, get a chest x-ray and abdominal scan, then consult your physician he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
