What Causes Lower Back Pain And Fever Post Treatment For Pneumonia?

My 7 year old son was diagnosed with pneumonia on the 21st August and given amoxicillian to take 3 times a day for 5 days. As soon as the antibiotics were in him he was 100% better and has been fine ever since. Today, he is complaining of a sore lower back, complains of being cold, has a fever. Could this be a relapse of the pneumonia?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* Pain lower back would be more of subjective feeling in a child at 7 years of age.
* More important is level of fever, if above 100 degree, I must suggest to consult his Pediatrician for further guidelines as many of the cases need

@ an x-ray chest to look for residual inflammation in the lungs.
@ complete hemogram for total count and differential counts.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
