What Causes Lower Back Pain And Cramps And Abnormal Periods?

I have missed my period this month. I was supposed to get it about a week and a half ago. Last week, I felt some lower back pain and cramps that I usually get when I m about to get my period. I also saw some brownish discharge but that was it. The next day it was gone. Today, I have been feeling some stabbing pains in my uterus. What could be causing this? FYI, I do have abnormal periods.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I would recommend you to have a urinary pregnancy test. This will determine if you are pregnant or not. If the test comes out positive and you are having strong lower abdominal pain you will need to see the doctor and have a transvaginal ultrasound. In this case, an ectopic pregnancy will need to be ruled out.

I hope this answers your query.
I remain at your disposal for further medical assistance.

Regards,

Dr. Antoneta Zotaj
